Project “Volunteering: way for the future” was organized in Daugavpils city from 21.11.2015. to 30.11.2015.
There were 16 participants from Latvia (ERFOLG), Georgia („Georgian Youth for Europe“), Portugal (ProAtlântico - Associação Juvenil) and Poland (Fundacja Sempre a Frente), who took part in the project activities.
The aim of the project was to popularize the movement of voluntary service in European countries, to improve the quality of voluntary service und to raise the capacity of youth workers.
The tasks of the project were:
- to promote education of the persons who works in the field of youth and give them the knowledge about how to involve young people into the volunteering more effectively;
- to give the opportunity for participants to communicate with each other in non-formal way;
- to motivate participants to listen different opinions and to teach them to express their opinions;
- to promote cooperation and tolerance of the participants.
Project activities: ice breaking and team building activities; city Game; NGO Fair; evaluation activities; history of volunteering in Europe; volunteering programs (EVS, UN volunteers, YA,etc); "ERASMUS+" opportunities; pro and const of volunteering (I and II part); intercultural Evening; “Toolbox” for volunteering, competences and Youthpass; meeting EVS volunteers in Daugavpils; EVS evening; Meeting with Daugavpils municipality; ideal Mentor and ideal Volunteer; games night; midterm evaluation; meeting with Youth Department of Daugavpils; "Volunteers needed!" – creative approach; poster making and presenting; public Employment Services (NVA) visit; visiting Mark Rotko art center; meeting local organisations who work with volunteers; volunteers party; gained competences. youthpass ceremony; feedbacking; final Evaluation.
Within the Project was made a booklet which includes experience of the partner organisations and information about the project. The booklet was posted on homepage of society ERFOLG www.erfolg.lv and internet page https://www.salto-youth.net/ in section „Toolbox for Training”.
Through the activities which were organized within the project, the project participants acquired new methods in work with young volunteers, made new contacts. Between the organizations was strengthened the cooperation. The project participants improved knowledge of foreign language (the communication during the project was in English), enlarged their knowledge about the representatives of other cultures. The project participants improved their presentation skills, because during the project activities they presented the prepared materials.
