Volunteering On and Off Stage 4
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Theatre Brama Goleniow is planning a project for four volunteers (two from Ukraine and two from Germany) that will take place in the city of Goleniow and last 12 months. The project will assist the volunteers by introducing them to the possibilities of working with an alternative theatre and educational association - including planning and administrative work, researching, developing and creating performances, organizing events and festivals, promotion, technical assistance, teaching and performing. Theatre Brama travels frequently to perform in festivals and teach workshops, this will provide the volunteers the opportunity to visit new places. We are open to giving the volunteer the opportunity to realize their own ideas. We frequently work with our local community and volunteers will be encouraged to become active citizens in our society. It will be an informal and intercultural education experience which will help the volunteers expand their self awareness and knowledge about cultural heritage, history, values, languages, interpersonal skills and dealing with people from different backgrounds. Teatr Brama engages in community out reach projects which bring art and culture to rural areas and the less fortunate. This is an important aspect of our work and allows us to touch hardworking people who are often overlooked by society. Volunteers will have many opportunities to integrate into local society. Volunteers will live in an apartment in Goleniow and be aided by a mentor. We are prepared to spend time helping the volunteer get accostomed to their new life and will offer the volunteer Polish language classes/tutoring/assistance. Volunteers will be advised of risk prevention and management policies. We will keep the volunteer’s emergency contact information on file and ensure that their insurance is prepared upon arrival. We will keep open communication with our volunteer so as to avoid any problems and correct any immediately should they occur. We believe the results of the project are that the volunteers will grow as individuals and also that the voluntees and people that they come into contact with during their year of voluntary service will feel a sense of common European heritage. These are also long term benefits of the project. A final long term benefit of the project is that the volunteers and hosting/sending organization add to their network of international partners.
