The project “Volunteering in Tbilisi” was an EVS project implemented by Voluntary Service International (VSI) and Charity Humanitarian Centre Abkhazeti (CHCA). VSI was the coordinating and sending organization and CHCA was the receiving organization. One 27 year old volunteer worked with CHCA for 12 months in Tbilisi, Georgia. The EVS volunteer developed his skills and competencies, became better able to manage his career and more prepared to secure future employment in humanitarian and development settings. The volunteer actively participated in the activities of the organization and shared his skills and experience with other colleagues. He performed all the activities in close cooperation and coordination with CHCA colleagues. The productive exchange of knowledge and expertise between the EVS volunteer and local communities was facilitated. The EVS volunteer assisted the target groups in developing and enhancing educational and other social projects. The project aimed to develop CHCA’s capacity to effectively assist internally displaced people (IDP) and other vulnerable populations in Georgia with the support of the EVS volunteer. IDPs, particularly youth, women, and vulnerable elderly people attained improved social and economic well-being through this project. The two partner organizations have developed their relationship and increased their knowledge of implementing international volunteer projects and of the themes of the project.
