Volunteering in Far East Russia
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Bystrinskii Nature Park has been closely cooperating with international organisations in the past years. The park director and his colleagues visit international conferences and seminars and invite experts to their park. They are interested in inviting young people from Europe to show the park’s unique nature and the problems of nature conservation and to introduce them to the life and culture in Russia’s Far East. Also, aims are to transport democratic ideas and attitude of the volonteers, and their esteem of the Nature Park together with awareness of environmental protection to the community. This will also be of considerable benefit for the young people from Esso and Anavgai, who rarely have the chance to leave their immediate centre of life, as they can closely work together with the volunteers and get to know other mentalities and cultures. In Esso, foreign tourists are frequent, but most of them only stay for one or two days and there is normally no opportunity for intercultural exchange. Local young people can also benefit from the chance to use the French and English language and develop their knowledge (besides English, French is the most important foreign language taught in the region). The volunteers will support the the Bystrinskii Nature Park’s activities regarding children and youth, will help to bring the Park’s themes nearer to the local school, the children and youth culture clubs etc. and support the club “Green Rangers” with their own ideas and practical work. TThe EVS-volunteers will support the Bystrinskii Nature Park’s activities mainly regarding children and youth, will help to bring the Park’s themes nearer to the local school, the children and youth culture clubs etc. and support the club “Green Rangers” with their own ideas and practical work. The special projects for the volunteers are: - Organisation of a permanent exhibition about the Bystrinskii Nature Park for the visitor centre involving local children and youths in the work, - Preparation and offering of “rounds of talk” for inhabitants of Esso concerning the life in France and Europe and the differences to Kamtschatka. - Creation and implemantation of a program to survey/monitor birds of the Bystrinskii Nature park and birdwatching offerings for children and adults. For this project our partner is Concordia, the volunteer is Mickael Anton, a french in love with nature.
