VOYAGE (Volunteering for more Open-minded Youngsters and Aged GEnerations) is an EVS project coordinated by InCo with the participation of 4 volunteers from 4 different countries (Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain and Ukraine). Volunteers will be involved in the activities of 3 Receiving Organizations located in Trentino to promote a culture of openness towards migrants and foreigners as well as intergenerational dialogue through the collection and sharing of “stories of life” of migrants. Receiving Organizations are active in different fields: CIVICA manages nursing homes, ASIF Chimelli has a youth centre and Associazione Trentini nel Mondo aims at connecting and assisting migrants from Trentino and their descendants. However, each Receiving organization has among its users, people with migration stories. Volunteers will both support regular activities of the Receiving Organizations suggesting own ideas and be involved in the parallel initiative “Uniting: unire storie di migrazione di giovani e meno giovani", title suggested by volunteers. By sharing collected life stories of migrants volunteers will encourage the users of the Receiving organizations and the local community to make a journey in the past and in the world discovering the difficulties faced by Italian migrants years ago and current migrants in Italy. Thus peer-to-peer contact will be stimulated, boosting not only socialization, the learning outcomes but also volunteers' spirit of initiative. VOYAGE is expected to have positive impacts on all the actors involved. It represents both a life and a learning opportunity for volunteers who are expected to develop competences and attitudes significant for their personal growth and future job placements and who will be supported in their learning path by all partners who have already agreed on methods and roles. Receiving Organizations could benefit from enriching inputs and new activities and all the other partners can have a greater impact thanks to the synergies they can create with the other organizations of the project. Last but not least, the users of the Receiving Organizations will have the chance to weave interrelations with persons from other cultures, tell their stories of life and get to know those of other people.
