The main aim of “Volunteering for better future” is to show that volunteering in young age builds stronger society with great values and has great influence to next generations as well. Moreover, volunteering impacts on economic development, social inclusion, and volunteers as individuals. So by that we want to raise awareness and build the capacity on volunteerism of female and male youngsters from Lithuania, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Slovakia, so that they are better able to utilize and popularize it back to their communities through methods of peer to peer education. Volunteering is an expression of the individual’s involvement in their community. Participation, trust, solidarity and reciprocity, grounded in a shared understanding and a sense of common obligations, are mutually reinforcing values at the heart of governance and good citizenship. It is an integral part of every society. Volunteering also expresses the desire to act on one’s feelings about justice and fairness in the face of inequality and to foster social harmony based on a shared interest in the well-being of one’s community. This is why we decided to focus on this topic. Project will gather 31 participants (including group leaders) in Marijampolė, Lithuania to share, and extend their current knowledge and skills, and to acquire new ones with regards to volunteerism in Europe. During the implementation of the project, participants will be given chance to actively volunteer in Marijampolė and to help it to become a better place and society. During the workshops they will have a chance to meet local authorities and to hear about the impact they made to Marijampolė‘s society. They will also spend time together during the project and learn about each others cultures and common understanding about volunteerism. Used methods will be non-formal, informal, participative, encouraging identification with the content of the project and maximizing the learning effect. Organizers will achieve desired impact on local, national, European and international level through disseminating the project results by bringing them to the attention of a broader audience. This audience includes youngsters living around us, family members, friends, our local communities, our friends and partner organizations from Europe and all over the world. The Youth Exchange will include small group discussions and other non-formal education methods which are highly participative, dynamic and structured to elicit and enrich the knowledge of participants about volunteerism in general. During the “Volunteering for better future” 8 day program, we will create a space for young people to meet, share, and extend their current knowledge and skills and to acquire new ones in order to demonstrate the positive impact of volunteering. This project is also linked to the objectives of the Erasmus plus program , such as promoting active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity, building international connections and a sense of European citizenship and identity, especially having participants from EU and neighboring countries. Besides all mentioned, project promotes active citizenship and intercultural dialogue, enhances the international dimension of youth activities and strengthens cooperation in between Programme and Partner Countries.
