Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The European Voluntary Service project called “Volunteering for better future of young refugees” will be hosted by organization “Youth Association DRONI”, based in Tbilisi, Georgia. One German volunteer will take part in the voluntary service from the 15th September 2015 until the 31st August 2016. Young German volunteer will organize different non formal activities for Internally Displaced People (IDP) residing in capital city. As example the activities will include arts and crafts, photography, ecological and other workshops with similar topics in order to develop their abilities and potentials for their future lives. The priority is given to volunteers possibilities express themselves and have meaningful experience while leading the activities for IDPs. In order to realize the main aim they will be supported by tools and resources the organization owns and will be ensured to get the following learning outcomes: social and civic competences, entrepreneurship and initiative-taking, learning to learn and cultural self-awareness. The local community will benefit from the additional activities and opportunities for non formal learning. This is particularly key for some of our more isolated IDPs who get few opportunities for enjoying the modern world possiblities and we anticpate an increased engagement in our future European activities, including recruitment of volunteers to send on EVS projects. The newly-acquired skills of both the volunteers and the involved fewer-opportunities youth in Georgia are the key elements for sustainable effects: broken stereotypes, new and deeper understanding of the concept of European Citizenship, methodologies and tools for inclusive youth work and entrepreneurship and initiative taking mentalities will insure that even after the EVS project propose is closed, the effects will remain and develop. The objectives of the European Voluntary Service are centered on the learning outcomes of the volunteers: - developing the volunteers’ competence (skills, knowledge, attitude) in youth work with IDPs and migrants - developing volunteer’s communication skills in mother and foreign languages, but also indirect and intercultural sensitive communication skills - raising volunteers awareness on Georgian cultural diversity and on the reality that IDPs and Georgian young people are facing nowadays - fostering the volunteer’s confidence and independence in decision-making through the experience of closely working with fewer opportunities youth - team-working skills in an intercultural context - developing the volunteer’s professional skills in preparing, running and evaluating various types of artistic activities as arts and crafts and photography that have an educational objective
