Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is part of the cooperation of the vocational college in Ansbach with the college in Ploiesti and aims at the enlargement of professional, personal and soft skills of 8 participants, who are doing their training as bakers and sales assistants at bakeries.1 Professional skillsTeams of Romanian and Bavarian trainees will discuss recipes from both countries and they will produce pastries in the bakery of the Romanian college. They will compare ingredients and baking processes as well as technical conditions and hygienic regulations in Romania and Germany. They will experience the economic, organisational and legal framework of bakeries in Romania during factory tours.2 Personal skillsThe project is to support personal skills of the participants by making them familiar with the Romanian language and culture. They share the everyday life of Romanian young people, who are trainees, too. This will enable them to discuss and compare the German and Romanian system of vocational education. The participants will experience the history and beauty of the host country by making excursions to famous sights. As the vocational college in Romania is also concerned with social work with neglected children the German trainees will learn about an aspect of social problems in Romania they have not experienced in their own environment in Bavaria.3 Soft skillsLiving together with Romanian trainees, sharing their meals, the school lessons and the practical work in the bakery as well as spending their leasure time together will help to promote the German participants' soft skills. The stay in Romania is expected to facilitate the understanding of the life of young people abroad and the tolerance of foreign cultural and social circumstances. The participants shall be willing to communicate and to cooperate with their Romanian colleagues. These important skills are required for a professional activity abroad as well as for the successful cooperation with foreign staff in German companies.Apart from the reduction of language barriers and the intercultural exchange of experiences the project is meant to support the mobility of the future employees. The following results and impact are envisaged:1 The German trainees shall be able to communicate with Romanian trainees sufficiently to work in teams and make bakery products of acceptable quality on the basis of Romanian and German recipes. 2 The German students get to know the legal, organisational and economic framework for bakeries in Romania and recognize the opportunities to work abroad as a baker.3 The German students can explain the differences, the advantages and problems of the German and Romanian systems of vocational education.4 The German trainees have an open mind towards the Romanian culture and language and accept them as a personal gain living in a common Europe.5 The appreciative openness and the tolerance of the participiants to people which have a different national and cultural background and come from another country are increased.6 The project supports the development of a professional and private network between the Bavarian and Romanian participants, especially after a return visit of the Romanian students in Ansbach. The partnership of the two colleges will be intensified by this second common project and will give the chance to discuss methods of how to strengthen the professional competence of young people more comprehensively. Furthermore, the network of the two colleges could help Romanian trainees to get an easier access to the German labour market.
