Vocational Technology Enhanced Learning

With a growing emphasis on the digital economy, TEL is increasing due to advantages in cost, flexibility and market access. A study by Cegos (2010) showed that learners want to see more technology-driven learning developed with an emphasis on collaborative learning techniques. Rapid technological change in education means the need for innovation transfer in learning techniques between HE and VET is increasingly important. The VocTEL project has taken existing University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) innovation in the form of the PG Certificate Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and has developed an adapted form of it for both a wider sectoral and geographical audience. The original PG TEL at UWTSD course was predominantly targeted at the HE and FE sector in the UK and within this project we have adapted the focus of the course and learning activities to address the commercial sector‘s need for eLearning skills and knowledge for the vocational education and training sector. The adaption has involved the validation of a new programme which was successfully piloted with participants from the partner nations, who studied together online. University of Wales Trinity Saint David is the lead partner.
