PROJECT
FINISHED
The Jenny Nyström school in Kalmar has, for several years worked internationally, in different projects. We have been able to offer our vocational students a practical work period in either Norway, England, Germany or the Netherlands. All projects have been very successful. Our vocational students who will be offered practical work periods in Norway, Germany and the Netherlands attend the following vocational educations; Childcare and Leisure-, Health and Care-, Hotel and Tourism- and Restaurant programme with bakery/ confectioner´s.The working methods in our projects are well established, from the first information given to the students to the homecoming, evaluation and spreading of the project. All routines are well-planned by the sending as well as the receiving organization. We now want to continue our important international work, letting the students benefit from new vocational skills in other countries with different pedagogics, equipment and working environment. The students will deepen their vocational skills and their language skills and also strengthen their self-confidence. One other important aspect is to make the students see themselves in a bigger context and also as being part of an international labour market. We live in a global society and through this experience the students will get a broader knowledge of other cultures and increase the understanding and acceptance of their fellow man.The possibility of employment will also increase, as the employer sees this experience/knowledge as a sign of independence and flexibility, which will be ueseful in a working situation. Our partners are well aware of their roles in the project. We all hope the good international co-operation will continue for the benefit of many more students. The practical work period abroad strengthens the vocational programmes and the professional pride of the students. The probability of employment increases for our students. We put Kalmar and the surrounding area on the map and the object is for the Kalmarsunds Gymnasieförbund to inspire the students to lifelong learning and global thinking.
