Maison des Associations a.s.b.l. (a non-profit organisation) is a multicultural association reuniting four migrant federations with the objective to raise awareness and open Luxembourg to the integration of foreigners (representing 48% of the total population of Luxembourg). In order to achieve that, we develop intercultural and intergenerational projects all around the country with various partners. We are also aware of national and European political challenges, so we work in collaboration with partners of the civil society (individuals engaged in this topic, migrants associations, cultural associations, organisations from the third-world countries encouraging integration in various ways, public and private institutions) and with other “maisons des associations” from the bordering (France, Belgium and Germany) or neighbouring countries (Switzerland). All our actions are included in our project "Living together in an intercultural dynamic". We have been hosting 2 volunteers each year for more than 5 years, who always take an active part in our project. They integrate our team of permanent employees and volunteers and also work in collaboration with other civic and European volunteers of our member federations and more. The volunteers help us with everyday tasks and are involved in the organisation of our activities: literary events "Soirées Millefeuilles", "Cuisine du Monde" (culinary activity), “Café des Âges” (intergenerational debates), "Raconte-moi une histoire" (intergenrational encounter), fairs, promotion of diversity and living together, activities with refugees, etc. They also establish contact with potential partners for our events, help us with their promotion (for example, designing the flyers) and contribute to project development with their creativity. They play a part in the communication of the Association and in the promotion of the activities too: updating the website and social networks, preparation and sending of our monthly newsletter. The volunteers should be motivated, curious, open-minded, interested in our activities and proactive. Within the association, there are also other projects in which the volunteers can take part. They can develop a personal project or a project in collaboration with other volunteers as well. The "Living together in an intercultural dynamic" project is directly linked to the actual stakes of the luxembourgish society. The activities that we are developing are indeed successful inside the local and migrant populations. The project has also evolved regarding the politic and social changes and thanks to our development of instruments and actions aiming the political challenges at the National and European levels (right to vote for foreigners or hosting of refugees for instance...). Our activities contribute to the meeting and the communication between people from different origins, cultures and languages. They also encourage intercultural exchanges and initiatives. We have indeed regular people participating in them but also a new public. Besides, the partners with whom we are working for several years are often proposing new ideas which are constantly filling our project. Moreover, the volunteers take an active part in improving the project thanks to their personality and their dynamism. We are indeed convinced that this project is still topical and that it will continue to evoluate thanks to all the actors who are involved in it. More informations on our website www.mda.lu
