Visualizing the European Ideas: Interactive Teaching Methodology for Secondary and Vocational Schools
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project titled “Visualizing the European Ideas: Interactive Teaching Methodology for Secondary and Vocational Schools” (INTEREU) is to elaborate an interactive methodology for teaching the European ideas and values, EU institutes and mechanism in secondary and vocational schools. The main output will be a three-part “learning package”: a textbook, an exercise book, and a methodological guideline for school teachers. This package will be added by a set of didactic materials for pedagogical universities: a special “Europe-module” will be offered for introduction into the curriculum. Teaching effectively the European subjects demands a special methodology: how to translate the new knowledge into an accessible, apprehensible and attractive discipline for the of secondary and vocational schools. The visualization and verbalization through new media supposed to be one of the applicable methods for reaching the expected results and impact.Sholokhov University (SMSUH) has a long-tradition experience in pedagogical training, and a solid basis for building up an innovative methodology. The conceptual basis of the new methodology will be developed in cooperation with the Central European University, Budapest (CEU). The project consists of five phases: conceptualization (preparatory workshop), implementation (conceptual and creative training for university students of design and journalism), application (exhibition, master classes; policy discussion), and dissemination through the professional press and social media, and follow-up. The expected impact is double. Firstly, the university students obtain clear vision about the European values, and gain skills and competences to transform the theoretical knowledge into visual forms. The students of school can learn about the EU ideas in visual ways. Secondly, the project will have a considerable impact on policy level, offering a list of recommendations for the introduction of a new module into the curricula.
