Studyvisit from our youth club Fönix to Youth Work Ireland. We want to get to know better the way YWI operates at a national and regional level, experience their youth clubs both in and around Dublin to see how their facility is and how they work with young people. We believe we can learn a lot from the staff and board of YWI but also that we can educate and enlighten them of Icelandic youth clubs on a national level and in our municipality. We will exchange good practices and learn from each other to be more aware of open youth work in the EU. This project is a study-visit for us to see how the youth sector works and how YWI puts non-formal education into action. This project is also about communication with other staff within the youth sector in a more global context and communicating with youth in other countries. We hope to learn a lot about how to execute events, organise new projects, encourage participation, how to have a fun and a good atmosphere within our youth club. We believe this visit will be beneficial for us and our teenagers as well as other youth clubs in Kópavogur municipality and possibly youth clubs on a national level. Projects and visits like these are beneficial for all participants, broadens the mind and their experience for the future. The same is to say for the youth in our youth club - they will benefit from this visit/project for years to come.
