Since several years, tensions between different cultural communities are developing in Europe and the Mediterranean countries. France, Germany and Lebanon are highly affected by this difficult social climate. The project « Towards new seashores » aims to answer the emergency of mobilising youth towards intercultural dialogue, social justice and give them self-confidence in being changemakers. It will gather 20 persons aged from 18 to 26 coming from Germany, France and Lebanon, in Aabra (Lebanon) from the 19th until the 28th of July 2016. This project will address the subjects of discriminations and radicalization (religious and political) while enhancing intercultural cooperation and social engagement of youth. The pedagogy of the project brings the participants to be constantly involved in the planning and set up of the activities. Starting from their life experience, they will develop critical thinking and set up concrete actions towards social change. The subjects of the exchange will be addressed through animations and role games. The participants will explore concrete situations, analyse them and work on positive solutions to set up. This process will lead to build creative actions in the public space, aiming to celebrate diversity and promote social justice. Artistic tools will be used in order to enable participation and expression of all the group. The project « towards new seashores » wishes to open new perspectives and bring self-confidence to the participants so they can play active roles in the society beyond borders. It will be the first step towards the set up of a non-formal education network of organizations sharing common values and working methods.
