Our secondary school, Christelijk College Groevenbeek, is a modern school that finds it important to constantly adapt its teaching methods to the changing needs of students. For this reason the school invests in new teaching tools (for example, iPads) and new teaching methods, with the ultimate goal of training our students to become people who naturally pay attention to what goes on both inside and outside their own borders. It is a bilingual school and also offers international activities in all other departments of the school. That is why it is important that staff visit partner schools and conferences in order to keep abreast of new insights in the field of education.
We expect 29 colleagues will be engaging in an international activity in the coming school year. These are teachers who are involved in the implementation of iPads, or who wish to improve their methodology particularly in TVWO classes by learning more about CLIL, teachers who need to improve their facility in English, teachers who are interested in the cross-pollination of skills and ideas by job-shadowing colleagues in other countries, and administrators who are intent on expanding their ideas on internationalization.
Activities include: sharing and exchanging lessons at partner schools; taking a course; attending a conference and visiting potential partner schools abroad.
All participants sit in different committees and have sufficient avenues for the dissemination of their knowledge and experiences.
By providing these opportunities, Groevenbeek expects to remain a modern and attractive school that can maintain its competitive edge in the region. School administrators estimate that 200 to 250 pupils attend Groevenbeek because of the international activities that are offered here, particularly in the bilingual stream.
