Verbesserung der Sprachkompetenzen und Einsatz neuer Technologien/digitale Kompetenzen
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project focuses on teacher training for English teachers in order to enhance their language development and to improve teaching methods for ESL as well as ICT-skills. We would like to improve the foreign language and methodological skills of our English teachers, especially as English is the only foreign language taught at our school type. The BAKIP in Linz is one of 29 nursery teacher training colleges in Austria. Furthermore we see a need in implementing ICT in modern language teaching in order to use the growing number of social networking platforms - such as eTwinning - effectively. Naturally, the foreign language skills of the teachers will be brushed up and improved, which will lead to more competent and motivating classes. This will enable our students to communicate more confidently within the EU. Therefore one experienced and motivated English language teacher is going to take part in this project. The participant is going to share all her experiences, gained teaching ideas and materials, etc. with her colleagues. Consequently the whole school will profit from this project. The participant is head of English department at school; she also works as a teacher trainer and is responsible for the organization of seminars offered to English teachers at colleges for nursery education in Austria. Apart from this she is also working in several educational projects for the Austrian government. The participant will attend and participate in an eclectic mix of activities: classes with native speakers, lectures and workshops on cultural/ methodological /didactical/educational issues, creation of teaching material or quality evaluation criteria, and study visits. Last but not least she will have the chance to exchange ideas and experiences with participants from other EU-countries. Dissemination will take place within the staff of the school, other regional schools and to interested colleagues in Austria via seminars and online platforms. One important aspect is the snowball effect this project will have on our school and school type, which means other staff members and other teachers in Austria might get interested in starting KA1- Erasmus+ projects. We also see this project as a possibility to get into/ and stay in contact with other European teachers via eTwinning projects and other Erasmus+ projects. All in all, we hope to gain and improve the necessary competences in order to be better teachers and educators, which on the whole should have a positive impact on our students and our staff.
