The EVS project will happen in the “Soukromá základní škola a mateřská škola Adélka, o.p.s.” (“Private Primary School and kindergarten Adélka o.p.s.”, further only “School Adelka”) in a small Czech village called Mašovice. It is located in the western part of the Czech Republic, in the district Plzen. School Adelka is a small primary school and kindergarten situated in an old farmstead with a maximum of 35 pupils. The school practices global education and is specialized on Ecology. One key point of the school’s concept is to teach the pupils to respect and accept people of different cultural background und to reflect cultural interconnection. EVS should enable us to extend this idea. The main themes for the activities are “children (also handycaped and with learning disorders) and environment (ecology)”. The volunteers will learn about the life in the countryside, they will get know the alternative teaching methods, Czech culture, something from ecology and ecological running of the school. The volunteer will influence future attitudes of our pupils to foreigner cultures. The proposed activities are linked to activities with children, the maintenance of the school farmstead, to the school operations and publications. Other activities offered are the school theme-projects, trips and school culture events. The main learning methods are informal learning and learning-by-experiencing based on the philosophy of the global learning. Pupils of school Adelka will learn to communicate with somebody from other environment and they will use this competence in their future life. The project will introduce them a concept of volunteering and some possibilities that give the EU to young people. The duration of the project is 15 month and there will be 1 volunteer hosted for a period 11 months. The volunteer would like to study pedagogy and special pedagogy in the future. The cooperating countries are: the Czech Republic and Germany.
