PROJECT
FINISHED
In the last decade the entire population of the earth has been affected by global warming and climate change. It is a reality we have to face everyday, a reality in which we can see the negative effects of these environmental issues everyday. It affects us, it affects the people around us, it’s going to affect our children. The world is in dire need of a change. Throughout the time people have sought solutions for this problem and one way we can make a change is by reducing the amount of carbon footprint used in transportation. As a response to all these challenges the following notions appeared: „eco-friendly mode of transportation” and„cycle-friendly cities”.Our goal with this project is to help people to understand the dangers we are facing and to show them what alternatives exist in order for us to live in a healthier world. Our main objectives for this project are the following: talk about the reasons why bicycles are more popular in some countries than others, international sharing about the best practices in cycling, raise awareness about the concept of cycle friendly cities, promote bicycle commuting and discover the benefits of using bicycles as a main mode of transport. We have already found partners in Ukraine, Romania and Spain and we started the selection process of the participants. Most of them are active cyclists that are interested in learning experiences that can help them gain the knowledge necessary to implement new strategies that can help reduce pollution. Our participants needs are clearly related to learning about cycling as an Eco-friendly mode of transport.Participants of the project will deepen their knowledge about environmental issues and the impact transportation does to the pollution. They will gain understanding about the benefits of using the bike vs car and will be encouraged to use it as the main transport for everyday use (home-work-shop-friends etc.).At the end of the project we expect that our participants will have a greater understanding about the environmental issues the world is facing today and an increased awareness about the steps they must take in order to solve these problems. We consider that during the training they will gain enough knowledge and confidence to see themselves as changemakers and to feel a sense of empowerment that they can produce change in their communities and beyond.
