Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Since 2011 Kungsholmens Västra Gymnasium and Lycée Privé Chalonnais Saint Charles have had contact. In connection with a study visit in Stockholm discussions started about future cooperation. Eventually this resulted in two seperate Leonardo da Vinci projects in 2012. Lycée Privé Chalonnais Sant Charles sent students to Stockholm for work placements at a nursing home in the fall, and Kungsholmen did the same in Chalon in the spring. The venture turned out very successful and by the termination of that project in 2014 the Swedish Pproject ”Health and care in Modern Europé” recieved laudits from the National Agency. In 2015 we have decided to start a new collaboration. We are hoping for an equally good result this time. The objectives for this project is to put healthcare occupation in an international perspective, where the universally human condition is being put in the spotlight, regardless of the patient’s social, cultural or ethnic background. The project also strives to develop the participants cultural understanding. By perceiving and understanding similarities and to bridge differences, the participants given opportunity to grow with the knowledge aquired and develop as professionals and as human beings. They will aquire knowledge and competences that will be essential in a globalized future. By developing linguistic, social and other communicative skills and strategies, the participants will be contributors to a better and more open society in the future. The third objective is to develop the participants digital competence within their education. We will appoint 20 participants from the healthcare programme to parttake in this two year project. The participants will be selected from the second year of the study programme. They will receive vocational training at various elderly people’s home and healthcare centers in Chalon-sur-Saone in France for four weeks. Tutours and placements will be selected by our partner school. To prepare the participants for the placements a cultural and language course will begiven prior to the visit. The first mobility is planned for March 2016. The project will be managed by the project manager with the assistance of a healthcare teacher, the ict officer and a teaacher in French. At the end the participants will part take in a evaluation process in order to follow up the strenghth and weaknesses of the project. The expected results will be a development in the personal and vocational life of the participants. The will strenghthen their confidence and recieve further understanding of other cultures and hopefully a new found interest in foreign language studies. The participants will also develop strategies of communication and learn new vocational techniques in their future line of work. The project will also lead to a closer bond between Kungsholmens Västra Gymnasium and Lycée Privé Chalonnais Saint Charles, that will have a profound effect on building a longterm and sustainable collaboration. The more longterm benefits will be that the participants will receiva a deeper understanding for the society and our globalized world, and hopefully be contributing parts in building a more open and allowing future. The project strives toward creating contact spaces between staff and students that in the long run will lead to a closer connection not only between the two schools, but between the two municipalities and in extension the two countries.
