In Europe one of five main aims for EU 2020 is to strengthen social inclusion, equality and active citizenship. Stockholm has the ambition to be an attractive city innovative and growing diverse and eventful according to the vision 2030. The city of Stockholm has the ambition to be an international arena for cultural events, creativity and innovation. A clear mission for the culture administration is to be a platform and inspiration for growing creativity in the city districts with a perspective on diversity and inclusion. The politicians share this ambition and have committed the Culture administration to strengthen the work in multicultural environments and invest resources in the disadvantaged socio-economic city districts. Therefore five city districts in the disadvantaged socio-economic areas have been selected for extra efforts for enhancing the mission, so called “Växtplatser” – “Growing Locations”. The aim with these “Growing Locations” is to increase the local citizens cultural activities, communicate local activities, inform about grants and scholarships for local NGOs and artists, and support the local artists with necessary benefits. The Culture administration needs to improve working tools how to reach local citizens for providing possibilities to create cultural events, improve the dialogue and communication between departments within the culture administration and support each other in common missions. Develop methods for strengthen the vocational competences. Though, there is more to achieve before the mission is completed. The culture administration haven´t reached, as required, the local citizens with lack of interest about the activities offered by the culture administration, Therefore, the culture administration is looking for European partners who have developed methods and have good experiences how to reach citizens in disadvantaged socio-economic city districts. The aim is to learn more by exchanging ideas in a non-formal way, exploring new methods and tools, sharing good examples of success and a sustainable development of cultural diversity. The sending organization: Contents of a project team (of project manager, cultural strategist, festival director and collaborator) 15 participants for mobility’s (teachers, librarians, festival organizers, museum teacher and project leaders) from the five “Growing Locations”. Target group young adults aged 18-30 living in the socio-economic disadvantaged areas. Mobility’s: Five groups of three participants in each one (mixed from the five Growing Locations) travel to five project partners in European cities to visit cultural institutions, libraries municipalities and local associations all working in socioeconomic disadvantaged areas and make a job shadowing. The cities are Birmingham, Bordeaux, Barcelona, Amaroussion and Helsinki. The five cities have developed other ways to tackle the issues and identified barriers that may be an important reason. Activities: Kick off and anchoring work: Information meetings with all employees at the “Growing Locations”. Departure meeting: Before each job shadowing, the participants will meet, prepare themselves for the trip and receive a package of “Inquires” and a packages of presentations material to bring to the hosting organization. Job shadowing: Three participants are going on mobility to a European city for explore, exchanging good examples and follow the work with employees at the hosting organization. Diary will be written as basis for evaluations. Follow up meeting: When coming back home, the participants present their experiences, new ideas they have learned from the job shadowing. Workshops: During the period between the mobility´s workshops will take place where the new ideas are tested out. The goal of each workshop period is to reach more young adults 18-30 years and get them into activity. Weekly reports are written to continuous evaluation. Evaluation takes place after each of mobility, through group discussions and interviews. Dissemination: Information sessions, weekly reports, Network meetings with local stakeholders, community & cultural institutions, Websites, creative event, filmed interviews - short films, on-line manual shared with the five European project partners including best practices and examples. Following objectives have been achieved: • More young citizens aged 18-30 are active in associations, creating their own cultural activities in collaboration with the city's cultural institutions. • The city's premises being used better and more efficiently. • Cultural Department has established a strong partnership with five European cultural institutions and along with them have developed methods and tools to support each other in the joint mission to achieve the EU 2020 goals of social inclusion, more in education and growth. • A KA2 Strategic Partnership application is written with the five European project partners for further cooperation.
