The project:
The aim of the project is to give the participants the possibility of working with their future profession in another culture, and to make them confident enough to take more education – or work in another country. Furthermore, it is important that the students are trained in practising English as language of communication abroad.
In the subject Prosjekt til fordypning (PTF) at vg2, the second year, the students are working in a business 2x3 weeks to get familiar with the profession in different establishments. We have special curriculum for PTF in all programs belonging to Restaurant and Food and Health and Sosial care. The participants will follow the PTF plan for their program during their stay in France, and focus on the extra bonus it is to be working in an establishment in a foreign country.
Persons involved in the project:
A project group are in charge of the project. This group make the arrangement and assist the students through It’s learning and blogging. One teacher from each program travel to Lyon with the students and stay with them the first week to make sure they settle in.
Conditions for the project:
The host school organizes accommodation, work, cultural program and theme-excursions. They are also responsible for the cooperation with the establishments where the students are working.
Time:
The participants will travel to Lyon in the spring term, the school year 2015/2016, in their second PTF period.
Expected outcome:
• The students will be challenged professionally, culturally and socially by the project.
• The department will use the project to inspire students at Restaurant and Food - and Health and Sosial Care - to show interest and enthusiasm in their work.
• The school will use the project in marketing the education and the professions to maintain the increased number of applicants to Restaurant and Food - and Health and Sosial Care.
