Nowadays, experts around the world are raising awareness on the critical levels already reached in terms of environmental impact. This situation has been created by man and therefore society must act quickly and effectively to reduce its effects. Young people are a sensitive public, this proposal, which comes from themselves, addresses the issue directly and it is aimed at transmitting a message of respect for our environment.UPBEAT ON THE ENVIRONMENT arises from a group of young breakdancers who wanted to mix dance and percussion as a way of expressing their disagreement with the behavior of the human being towards the environment, thus launching a message of respect for the environment led by the participants of this project, the European youth. The general objectives of this project are to create a debate on the environment and the current situation, to provide and share tools for having more respectful habits towards the environment, to promote non-formal learning through art and environment as educational tools and to develop capabilities to form social ties, solidarity and cooperation in the young participants.During the days of the exchange, 33 participants (including leaders) from 6 different European organizations will participate in the development of the activities in the city of Girona. Selected participants will be interested in environmental awareness and will have an interest for dance and percussion as means of expression. It is expected that at the end of the exchange participants will be able to present a final performance during the dance exhibition "Destil·lant Dansa" organized by the Youth Center Pont Major in the framework of a project to promote dance groups in the city. It is also expected that this project will have a positive impact on both, the participants' knowledge on issues related to environment and sustainable practices and the acquisition of dance and percussion capabilities by young people. Finally the project is also expected to have an impact on the knowledge that society has about problems associated with the current model of life (extreme consumption) and, ultimately, to give visibility to the Erasmus plus program in the city of Girona. In the long term, these participants are expected to improve their daily habits by encouraging the use of environmentally friendly practices and they are also expected to serve as speakers to promote environmental respect in their countries of origin and among their social circles. It is also expected that this first Erasmus program to be held in the city of Girona, will be the first of many. Therefore, local associations are going to visit and actively participate in the project during the days in which the activities will be developed, so that they will acquire tools and ideas themselves to lead other European youth projects.
