Project ?UP!? is a long-term European Voluntary Service project under the EU program "Erasmus+" that is coordinated by Gulbene Municipality Council Development Department (Latvia) and involves 5 different host organizations in Gulbene municipality ? Gulbene 1st pre-school, Gulbene 3rd pre-school, Gulbene Regional Library, Tirza primary school and Litene social care canter for metally disabled people. Each organization hosts 1 volunteer. Together there are 2 volunteers from Germany, 1 from Portugal, 1 from Belarus and 1 from Italy. Project duration is 13 months from August 1, 2014 till August 31, 2015. Vounteers are hosted for 10 months. All project activities start on September 1, 2014 and end on June 30, 2015. Common goals of the project are: - To establish an accessible and supportive environment for young volunteers? individual growth, allowing them to participate and organize different activities; - To develop local people?s and other organizations? positive attitude towards volunteering and expand their horizons. Project topic is rural/urban development. Each volunteer has different activities based on host organization?s profile. They are also involved in diffferent public activities that can promote EVS and volunteering in general. Although HO are public bodies, all are open and will provide a non-formal approach and attitude for volunteers? activities.
