PROJECT
FINISHED
The Jugendbildunngsstätte Unterfranken in Würzburg coordinated EVS projects in folllowing hosting organisations: Stadtjugendring Würzburg, Jugendkulturhaus Cairo in Würzburg and Levi e.V. in Schonungen. The organizations listed would like to invite volunteers from Europe to bring intercultural experience in their facilities. At the same time, there will take place the intercultural opening process among young people, residents inside the institutions as well as in the communities through the contact with the volunteers. The volunteers themselves will learn how diversity should be achieved in reality. It is also important that the volunteers gain during their EVS experience, new skills (professional, social, linguistic, etc.) and feel more confident. The project plans to invite three volunteers in the region of Unterfranken. Almost all selected volunteers have found the EVS opportunities on the Internet. Together with the projects we have called the candidates. For us, their motivation was important, why they want to participate in the actual project. The Stadtjugendring Würzburg has chosen Natalia Pokhyliuk from Ukraine for 12 months (from 01.02.2016 until 31.01.2017). Her sending organization Youth NGO ISKRA will support the process. The volunteer will get to know the educational field of the Youth Council as well as its concept, for example she can participate in the activities of the member organization, work on the tent camps of the associations of Kreisjugendring Würzburg, support of children's cinema project, etc. The volunteer is an integral part of the team and she will get the opportunity and time to realize her own projects after the orientation and introduction phase. A regular guidance and reflection with the volunteer will ensure a continuous learning process. The Jugendkulturhaus Cairo in Würzburg found the application of Joanna Nowosad from Poland very interesting. She should support the team 6 months (from February to the end of July 2016). Her sending organization is called Stowarzyszenie Jeden Swiat. The volunteers will be treated as part of the team and depending on her language skills as well as her interests, she will support the daily office work. In Cairo nearly every evening take place various cultural events (concerts, theater etc.) - Joanna can decide which groups she would like to help. She can also join the regular workshops (dance and theater ) or workshops (photo laboratory and pottery). The newly accredited Levi e.V. will host a volunteer from France (from 01.04-30.09.16). The partner organization MJC Vire will look for a volunteer later. The Levi e.V. is an institution where 14 people with mental illness live and work. The volunteers should accompany the daily life of the inhabitants and suggest additional activities (workshops, courses, leisure etc.). The volunteers will live in Schonungen, the city is situated on the outskirts of Schweinfurt and is easy to be reached from Würzburg. Each volunteer will take part in a language course in Würzburg and Schonungen and will also receive a licence of the ‘Online Linguistic Support’.All those involved in this project hosting organisations have decided to cooperate with the coordinating organization – Jugendbildungsstätte Unterfranken. The organization also cooperates with IN VIA Würzburg e.V., which also coordinates EVS projects in the region. The two coordinators take care that all the volunteers from Unterfranken get in contact. Once a month will take place an official meeting for all the volunteers with the two coordinators. The meetings are important in order to strengthen the network in the region. In general, we expect the the organisations through the presence and their engagement of the young volunteers from Europe will get more intercultural dimension. Volunteers should bring refreshing new ideas, different experiences, approaches and perspectives there. The children and adolescents but also the inhabitants * inside the communities are open through regular contact with European volunteers from Europe, more curious about new things. The three volunteers themselves should learn to work as a team, to improve new methods of working with young people and with people with disabilities to be more self-confident and independent, to improve their foreign language skills etc. For us is also important the networking between the institutions and volunteers in Unterfranken. The institutions should continue to host European volunteers, especially the newly accredited institutions should continue to be interested by this experience for the Erasmus + program. Thanks to the direct contact with the European volunteer we expect young people to go abroad (for EVS, internships, au pair, etc.). The Jubi Unterfranken is also Eurodesk Partner and zhe volunteers should supoort the informational events (Europe Day in Würzburg, Family Day in Goldbach etc.).
