School’s role is central in raising citizens’ awareness on European integration issues. Universities4EU (U4EU) eagers to adjust the information on EU issues towards youngsters through innovative ways of learning, interactive processes and new media tools which will take into consideration the respective educational perceptions in Greek secondary and vocational education schools. The rationale of the proposal is to; develop synergies within different level and types of education (higher, vocational and secondary education); involve different categories of educational actors (University professors and students, teachers and pupils of vocational and secondary education and youth workers of NGOs); meet challenges that have been fueled by the current crisis (i.e. youth unemployment, social inequalities, disinterest on civic affairs); spread information on EU issues; exploit the existing EU material i.e. Teachers’ Corner, ECB’s Euro School and apply open sources i.e. open education europa, Europeana; inform youngsters on the rights and opportunities that EU offers; conduct a research on pupils’ EU perception and draft proposals for the introduction of EU studies within Greek secondary and vocational schools curricula. The main activities will be three dual training seminars for both pupils and teachers; They will be organized through the participation of academics and students of the Department of International and European Studies University of Piraeus, a Jean Monnet Chair of the University of Aegean along with various Youth NGOs which will implement workshops on subjects such as active citizenship, entrepreneurship, democratic values, cooperation and multiculturalism, that are in first line with Jean Monnet and Erasmus+ objectives in general. A floor game and an interactive mobile and tablet application will be developed; a conduct of a research on pupils’ perception on EU and a dissemination conference where proposals addressed to policy makers will be elaborated.
