Übungen des Improvisationstheaters für die Anwendung im Spanisch-Unterricht "Ejercicios de improvisación teatral para su aplicación en el aula de E/LE"
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Jun 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is an advanced vocational training, of which the main objective is the expansion of pedagogical and didactical methods on the one hand and the acquisition of regional- and cultural experience and skills on the other hand. Our school is always trying to offer our pupils an insight into the diverse european cultural landscapes, the international networks as well as the EU's democratic values. Therefore, it is inevitable for the teachers to collect experience in different cultural environments. Our partner organization, the Academy of Iria Flavia situated in Santiago de Compostela is an excellent language school which makes every effort to provide valuable cultural aspectes to its students even outside the classroom. Recognized by the Cervantes Institute, the quality of the courses and professors is also subject to regular inspections to ensure the high quality standard of the classes. The participant, Ms. Gürtler, teaches spanish, philosophy and psychology and maintains a keen interest in theater and improvisation. She has attended an educational theater course on her own initiative and would like to intensify the use of improvisatial and theatrical exercises in her spanish classes. The main motivation for the training activity is, however, the reactivation and expansion of her language skills as well as her wish to collect intercultural experiences. The course, which Ms. Gürtler wants to attend, deals with the utalization of improvisational and theatrical exercises in language teaching and is specifically tailored to teachers of Spanish as a foreign language. The instructor, Francisco Olmo, is also a foreign language teacher and a professor of Role Play. He has been working for the Academy for several years and aquired a rich repertoire of methods during this time. The course itself will last two weeks and follows a well-structured work plan. The curriculum is divided into the following aspects: time and space, relationship, conflict and action, which will be developed in individual, couple or group improvisations. The aim of the course is to learn more about the basic aspects of improvisational theater and the possibilities of its implementation in the language classroom . The expected results of the workshop will cover several short- and long-term levels. First of all, regional- and culturalspecific skills shall be aquired to support the teacher to awake the natural curiosity of the students as well as to raise their awareness with regard to tolerance and diversity. Furthermore, this innovative method should open a new learning space for the pupils where they can practice their foreign language skills in real world situations. As an additional bonus the aquired skills will be shared with collegues during the weekly team sessiones to establish this method as an enjoyable way to learn languages.
