Project "Learning and teaching for sustainable development" designed for years 2016-2018 in the Primary School with Integration Sections No 1 in Bieruń, integrates such aims as: promotion of the institution, effective communication and cooperation with the surrounding, its application for the benefit of future generations, especially in a form of enterpreneurship development and raising local awareness, implementation of new forms and methods of teaching as well as developing language skills. The goals in question correspond with the priorities included in the plan of strategic development of the school and were determined by the current situation and problems of the institution. One of the basic aims of the project is constructing a positive image of the school and starting a positive dialogue with the local society through completing actions and introduction of innovations. There are going to be 26 out of 54 teachers engaged in the project realization. This is a group of active educators who see the need of personal development for the benefit of the whole school. They are experienced in a Comenius project organization or are members of the school Promotion Board. Convinced of the necessity of gaining new abilities, introduction of innovative solutions and improvement of communication skills, they plan to use the possibilities offered by Erasmus+ Program, the international cooperation and the exchange of experience on the European level. The key actions planned within the project are: language course arrangement, organization of training courses enriching the knowledge and the teaching and communication skills of the teachers. In order to monitor the progress in the project tasks accomplishment and to disseminate its products there is going to be: designed a project website, organized promotion events inviting the representatives of town authorities and local communities during which the project itself and the actions taken by the school will be presented, expanded the cooperation with local educational institutions, organized training workshops for school teachers but also for the educators from partner institutions, , etc. Designed actions are compatible with the priorities included in the plan of the strategic development of the school for years 2015-2020. Therefore, they should result in long-term aims completion, such as: - working by using project method which will develop the sense of entrepreneurship; - creation of educational situation which will attract students interest and will evoke the natural need for expanding knowledge; and gaining abilities by means of new forms and methods of learning and teaching;- development of international cooperation projects (eg. within KA2 the strategic cooperation of schools - preparation of "Count on me" project integrating language, maths and entrepreneurial skills; - engaging students into pro-social actions and behaviour and developing their awareness of local values and needs; - encouraging teachers to taking part in courses including on-line training courses;- using educational platforms;- school promotion as an element of good communication with the local community, sponsoring and grant gaining, positive image creation and finding partner schools;- management of the school based on trust and cooperation. Enriching the teachers skills and their daily practice as well as the ablility to communicate effectively with the surrounding should result in positive outcomes for students through raising their motivation to knowledge gaining, interest in school events, connecting learning and teaching processes with pragmatic aspects and at the same time preparing young people for their future vocational life. The development of the school directed towards its surrounding will reflect onto the whole community development.
