PROJECT
FINISHED
We learn from traditions
A total of 50 people of which there are 36 participants and 14 leaders of individual groups,
are involved in the project.
Project participants are young people aged 15-26 years with special educational needs. These young people often come from socially disadvantaged or socially excluded backgrounds. So it seems unequivocal that we can describe the participants as young people with fewer opportunities.
Organizations from the Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden that are involved in the project, focus their activities on formal and informal education of young people with special educational needs on the long term basis. Performing their work they are daily confronted with the challenges that the young people have to face because of their handicaps. Therefore, the partner organizations unanimously agreed on the definition of the main problem, why to implement the project. Due to the fact that participants have fewer opportunities which is given by their disabilities or handicaps, as well as by the socially disadvantaged or excluded family environment, where they often come from, we would like to enable the young people to acquire new skills through the project - to acquire or develop skills, abilities and knowledge that contribute to their social, professional and personal growth, including their language training, to gain self-confidence when confronted with new experiences, attitudes and ways of behaving which they lack in their everyday life, and all this is done with a clear goal – to increase their competiveness in the labour market in future.
The priority of the project is an active way of spending leisure time, when through learning from traditions, the young people from different countries will learn from each other about the traditions in their countries through thematic evenings and creative workshops. Before the exchange itself and in accordance with the educational priority of the key event, a group of young people from each country supported by some necessary assistance from their leaders, will prepare an interactive guidebook to the traditions of their country, in the form of websites, which will also become one of the outputs of the project. It is our intention to choose the form of information processing on the computer, because this way is seen by participants as soft, easy and natural, and at the same time developing their ICT skills. Another educational activity, that will present the overview of work during the exchange, is the production of a handmade book which will become another project output. The aim of this activity is to develop creativity and motor skills of the project participants. Regarding the definition of sub-objectives of the project, this includes improvement and increase of project participants´ employment in the labour market, development of social, personal and civic responsibilities of participants, building mutual respect and understanding among people.
During the exchange the method of communicative animation will be used with an emphasis on and taking into account the individual needs of participants in the exchange. Through this method, the leaders can encourage the participants, arouse their enthusiasm for prepared activities, discover their abilities and possibilities, they motivate them to perform their best. The method is based on the principle of participation. Another method used in the project is the method of learning by doing. During the exchange the participants will practically solve specific situations, problems, discover new things and so they will gain new experience. This method is also inseparably connected with building relationships between who learns and who teaches, the method strengthens the ties among the participants based on mutual tolerance, respect and solidarity. In connection with the methods we will use, we see as crucial to ensure a balance between cognitive, emotional and practical level of learning.
We consider important to promote the project in the media, and especially in the phase of the exchange itself, to ensure the dissemination of the results. For this purpose, representatives of the regional press and radio will be contacted. We will use also other forms of dissemination of the project results, we will present the project on websites, information concerning the project will be posted and shown on the website of all participating organizations. At the same time the host organization will ensure the participation of representatives of local and regional governments. They will be invited to come for the final meeting and the project evaluation which will take place on the last day of exchange.
