The project´s objective was to put in place a safe cycling route network within the Podcetrtek tourist spa area and to provide a complementary tourist offer in the region for cyclists. The purpose was to bring additional quality to the existing tourist infrastructure and to reinforce cross-border relations, transfer good practices and create a joint tourist offer. In order to attain these objectives, the following activities were carried out: construction of a cycling /pedestrian lane, creation of a joint tourist offer, performance of cross-border workshops, preparation of a joint tourist offer catalogue and joint media publications. Achievements: Within this project, the cycling lane was asphalted (length 10 km, width 1m) and separated from the motorway road surface by a green belt; the lane is appropriately equipped with markings; road connections are functional; road signalling and markings in place; natural and cultural potential analysis completed; selection of 35 providers and /or potential providers in the area; 3 workshops and 15 individual interviews carried out with tourist service providers; the conceptual solution for the cycling lane prepared, including a complementary offer; media promotion; publication on www.podcetrtek.si; folders printed (5,000 pieces).
