“TURKISH PAPER ART” Project is YIA, Action 1.2 Youth Initiatives and was prepared by an Informal Youth Group called YOUTHART35. The Project will be carried out in Izmir / TURKEY and Prague / CZECH REPUBLIC. The Project will be applied for 8 month - 241 days between 01.03.2013 and 30.09.2013.The aim of “TURKISH PAPER ART project is to revive the “KAATI” by teaching it to the participants from IZMIR/TURKIYE and CZECH REPUBLIC. Our Groups considers this project as an important opportunity in order to enable “KAATI” art to awake, to revitalize and to leap from past to future by modernistic, young and energetic touch.“TURKISH PAPER ART” is one of the oldest Turkish traditional illustrative and decorative arts forgotten. This Turkish paper art is called as “KAATI” This art has an important place in the Turkish Book Ornamentation.The Project is two sided. The Project Team- YOUTHART35 will go to Czech Republic in July, 2013 and the participants of our partner-DUHA TANGRAM / Czech Republic will come to Izmir / TURKEY in August, 2013. We will teach the Turkish participants and Czech people how to make KAATI in workshops in Izmir and in Czech Republic.At the end of the project, “KAATI” arts exposition in İZMİR will be realized and then a web site, leaflet, CD and a book regarding this traditional art will be prepared. And also a meeting with the artists who are still alive; as well as theoretical and workshop studies will be doneThe activities organized at the beginning and at the end of the project such as entertainments, excursions and the meals organized therein will make the attendees get closer and yield the local culture and the destination better known.
