TRY: TRansition Youth - sustainable development and local entrepreneurship (Transnational Youth Initiative)
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project „TRY: TRansition Youth - sustainable development and local entrepreneurship” is a transnational youth initiative undertaken by the 4YOUth Foundation for Supporting Youth Initiatives in cooperation with MasFranch and Palma Nana cooperatives from Spain and Italy. The main aim of the project is a preparation of youth groups from our small towns for being engaged in local society activities, and a practical training of local entrepreneurship based on the rules of sustainable development. The TRY project is also supposed to create the sense of responsibility connected with the environment among the youths. Moreover, it should bring about the local and international solidarity in the domain of sustainable development. We are going to employ the methods of nonformal education which will allow the participants to acquire specific experiences, tools and practical knowledge in the field of responsible business, public participation, sustainable development, healthy lifestyle and physical activity. The project will allow youth NGO members from the partner countries to learn new lifestyles and alternative ways to run business activities which use local resources and cultural richness of our regions. The results of the project will include a creation of the social urban garden in each of the partner countries. The gardens are going to constitute a common space for the local community activities and they will be the main result sustained after the project. The project will include 27 participants and 6 supporting team members (coordinators and coaches). There will be fewer opportunities participants – mainly caused by economical, social impediments, and cultural differences. The project will consist of one international preparatory meeting and three 7-day international training meetings. The activities will include outdoor workshops, visiting local entrepreneurs and interviewing local experts, ecological and social activists. These meetings will teach us the rules of permaculture, the sustainable spatial planning, the rules of participatory democracy, and creating and cultivating gardens. Additionally, we will have meetings regarding healthy nutrition and the functioning of food cooperatives, bioconstruction as well as mediatory workshops. Thanks to our project we will activate our local communities, the cooperation between citizens, NGOs and local governments will tighten, and our towns will come closer to the functioning model of Transition Towns.
