Start date: Nov 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

AEVA – Associação para a Educação e Valorização da Região de Aveiro (Association for Education and Development of the Aveiro District) is a non-profit organization, was founded in 1998, intervening in the education and development resources. It is the present owner of EPA – Escola Profissional de Aveiro – VET School of Aveiro, which started in 1992. EPA acts at a regional level and its vocational training curricula is aiming to bridge business needs in the region defined in the yearly inquiry. EPA provides nowadays training for 1126 students in apprenticeship courses (700 trainees in level IV and 356+96 trainees in level II), in the different technical Level II and IV curricula. AEVA has a large number of students with special needs, learning and behaviour problems. With this project, AEVA-EPA wants to further development its staff, so it can advance in delivering even better educational and guidance services. A small 16 staff members (from board, staff, pshchologists, special education, sociologists, tutors, etc.) will participate in a wide set of training courses, that all focus on learner centered and strength based approaches. These are, among other, narrative and appreciative approaches, question techniques to lead better, dialogue methods to address the power of social discourses and much, much more. As a result of this, the whole organisation will be better in running their educational services, where the starting point will be the learner (as the learner is the expert on its own life) and learning will be better contextualised (in the context of the learners' life). This form of learning is in three words more respectful, empowering and sustainable.
