Transnational Network for ITS Training and Education

The project aims to improve the scope and quality of education and training in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Europe. The primary target group for this are university students who encounter ITS teaching. To this end, the project partners will form a transnational network to identify and maintain links between centres of excellence in ITS education/training. Project partners will identify needs and scenarios in ITS education and training and will report on these. By piloting a range of training initiatives with students, the project team will test both the effectiveness of identified 'good practice' in improving ITS education & training and the effectiveness of the transnational network as a means for identifying and exchanging information on ITS education/training. A series of 'good practice' in ITS education and training will be singled out by the project team and will include suggestions for curricula development and appropriate use of new technologies. The results will be published on the project website, in printed form and on CD-Rom. Project results will be produced in EN as this is the working language for the project. The project team will also explore how 'best practice' course curricula can be developed into an accredited system for European-wide ITS education and training. A large part of the project will be devoted to a strategy for developing and continuing the network's goals beyond the period of Leonardo funding. Dissemination will be ongoing in an effort to maximise and advertise the existence of the transnational network and its goals.
