Transformers
Start date: May 4, 2015,
End date: Oct 3, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
The project Transformers is a group exchange. It serves to share and disseminate the knowledge and skills needed for the reactivation of vacant spaces and their transformation in autonomous, alternative youth cultural zones. The expertise of the Ukrainian partner Cultural Dialog will therefore be matched with that of Toestand from Belgium.
Transformers intents to re-think the Soviet architectural heritage of Kremenchuk through a number of cultural events organised in collaboration between artists from Brussels and Kremenchuk. The project will assist social and cultural revitalisation of the abandoned industrial spaces and unification of young creative communities around development of urban initiatives.
The participation of the Belgian partner organisation is in the interest of further developing expertise on redeveloping / opening up abandoned spaces for young people and their (creative) needs. The Belgian expertise will be shared in a week-long group exchange, a cooperation between young people from both countries for the preparation of a space. It will also be shared in conferences on the festival and afterwards in Kyiv.
For Toestand, the objectives are to widen its scope on the possible premises of the use of abandoned space. The practical cooperation in readying a space in one week time, will allow for both partners to learn from each other in practice, as well as in theory during the conferences.
