Traditions and novelties in Deta (Romania) and Bordány (Hungary)

Learning, respecting and transmitting cultural values between the communities of Deta (Romania) and Bordany (Hungary) by increasing the number of cultural contacts between the two communities is the aim of the project. By developing inter-cultural relations at personal and community level in Romanian-Hungarian boundary regions, the project helps resolving the disputes regarding nationalities or religions, and it encourages co-operation between Romanians and Hungarians. Other ethnic groups are involved, like Serbians, Bulgarians, Gipsies and Germans. The project aims at finding similarities between the religions of the two communities, to re-join and respect their spiritual values.The general objective of the project is consolidation of cross-border social and economic cohesion and collaboration between the communities.Target groups: inhabitants of the two communities, as employees of public institutions, students studying in the schools of Deta and Bordany and their parents. This makes a total of approximately 4000 direct beneficiaries.The main specific activities of the project are: cross-border culinary traditions; Orthodox customs and traditions for Easter and Whit Sunday; Advent customs and traditions; Touristic and culinary activities - traditional Romanian dishes; The Days of Bordany - cultural traditions; The Days of Deta - cultural activities.Among the suggested activities there is a correlation regarding the promotion of a long-term collaboration in cultural and educational activities; in fact, this project continues the series of projects unfolded between the Romanian town Deta and the Hungarian village Bordany.Main results: increasing the number of annual cultural contacts between the two communities; increasing the number of annual contacts on traditional matters between the two communities.
