Traditions and globalization
Start date: May 18, 2016, End date: Jan 17, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Gea Universitas is a no-profit organization that aims to share, thanks to cultural youth exchanges, all the existing differences amongeuropean countries. We want to suggest a project entitled "traditions in the globalization era".On one side, in fact, the importance of traditions is meant as the transmission of knowledge, behaviors and gestures within a society;on the other side, traditions must not be meant as something that hinder the path to progress, in an era that does anymore knowboundaries. Putting these two expects in comparison through debates, we would like to shed lights on the openness to modernityand globalization without compromise state identity. We strongly believe that bumping into other cultures and realities, young people can learn each other: they can discover analogiesand differences about their customs and cultures; further more they can enrich their own cultural background.Suggested activities will consist in debates and workshops held by university professors and local entrepreneurs that will discussabout common themes, such that they can provoke debates and ideas exchanges. Thanks to these activities, we aim to fightprejudices and stereotypes that sometimes affect and influence our view of other cultures, putting the dialogue as the only onenecessary instrument. Thanks to this project, many guys and girls from different social contest and countries can meet and discussthemes such as traditions and customs. The cultural exchange will take place from June 2 to June 8, 2016 in Messina. We hope to envelop an optimal exchange of opinions and skills that can positively influence professional and social behaviors of allthe participants. In fact,it is only thanks to dialogue and ideas exchange that future can get better!
