Problems addressed• Low participation from local and regional authorities in INTERREG (especially outside border regions and in new member states)• Quality of projects submitted by local and regional authorities• Declining popularity of town partnerships, also due to loss of specific fundingObjectives• Increased participation from local and regional authorities in (projects within) the INTERREG programme• Improving the quality of (municipal and regional) INTERREG projects • Developing a strategy to involve town-partnerships in the INTERREG-programme, first of all from within the partner countriesApproach and methodology• Gathering information on the requirements of the toolbox and the project experiences and best practices with INTERREG so far• Building a toolbox for INTERREG-projects from the input of municipalities and regions• Disseminating the information through the toolbox, seminars and training courses, direct support through pilot projects and partner search, website etc., first of all within the partner areas Expected Results: • Practical toolbox for local and regional authorities on (developing) INTERREG-projects• Strategy on involving town partnerships (and regional authorities) in the INTERREG-programme • Sustainable pipeline of INTERREG-projects with participation of town-partnerships
