Problems addressed• Lack of knowledge of the organisational structures and scope of competence of the various European regions. • The need for a database that specifies the various organisations with responsibilities in the area of co-operation. • The difficulties involved in establishing contacts with a view to the presentation of joint projects, with particular reference to the new Member States and non-EU countries. Objectives• The transfer of good practices acquired thanks to the development of the European Union - 15 Interreg III-A (EU-15) to the enlarged European Union (EU-25).• To create and diffuse a tool designed to facilitate cross-border, transnational and interregional co-operation. • To promote specific co-operation relations between European regions. Approach and methodology• Creation of a database containing practical information about the regions of Europe. • Publication and distribution of the end document • Forum for multilateral meetings Expected Results: • Increase in the flow and frequency of formal and informal information exchanges between co-operation agents in all European regions. • Rise in the number of interregional co-operation projects. • Increased co-operation relations between EU member states and non-EU countries.
