FINISHED
„ThinkFilM“ is a Youth Initiative’s project organized by the „NaFilM“
informal group, which was founded and continues to be formed by the
students of the masters program of the Department of Film Studies on
Charles University in Prague. The initiators of the project are engaged in
the research of film education and public presentation of the national film
heritage for the second year. The ThinkFilM project builds on a previous
project called „Czech Film Museum“ and extends it to an international level
with the participation of project‘s partners from Germany, Poland and Great
Britain. Czech Republic is one of the few countries in the European
context, whose national film heritage is not publicly accessible. The
uniqueness of the project lies both in its output, which has the form of a
concept of non-existent Czech Film Museum, and both in an international
outreach that adds irreplaceable value to the whole conception.
The aim of the project is to map the existing procedures used in the film
education of the youth and in the public presentation of cinematographic
heritage and then use acquired knowledge for finding innovative practices
that established practice improved. A major benefit of each of the project
partners will be the creation of their own filmic-education project for
youth, which will correspond to the needs of the country (eg. exhibition,
educational program, teaching material). These works shall be subsequently
interconnect in project‘s output – in the concept of Czech Film Museum,
which should manage the position of institution that will provide informal
film education and public presentation of the national cultural heritage in
Czech Republic.
The project will participace students and academics from foreign
universities. Each of the project partners will be created by three main
members of the group, who will coordinate the project in each of the
partner countries. During the first year of a larger research project they
shall group together bigger team of students Together they will establish
cooperation with relevant institutions in their own country. Partners will
communicate with each other through internet channels. In the meantime the
group meetings will take place within each group and at the international
level as well. At the same time, the results of the project will be
consulted with representatives of film institutions. We will also organize
meetings with the youth, which will verify created procedures and obtain
feedback from the main target group.
The impact of the project is expected firstly in the field of film
education of youth, in which the project will contribute to improving the
quality and innovation of established practices, and secondly in the
presentation of film heritage, in which we will seek to modernize the
presentation and declassification of relevant cultural to the general
public.
In the long run, the project wants primarily establish intensive
cooperation between partner universities and institutions involved.
Together we will attempt to improve the quality of the film education. The
impact on personal and professional development of the participants is
equally important. We plan to continue in making film education more
accessible to young people and we strive to make national cultural heritage
publicly available at national and international level.
