Think Wider
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Think Wider" is a 2 months EVS, from 8th April to 8th June 2015, with participation of 5 volunteers coming from Spain (3 participants) and Italy (2 participants). The main task of the volunteers was to plan, organize and implement 2 events as a Human Library in 2 different cities of Georgia, Tbilis and Zugdidi. The Human Library is a innovative method designed to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding. The main idea of the project was to fight against stereotypes, raise awareness about human rights and encourage local society to be more tolerance and active. DRONI Youth association (host NGO) has been the only one which is organizing these events in Georgia since 3 years. Mostly they were held in the capital, Tbilis. The project was divided in 2 different parts: - On the first level, the participants shared their knowledge, ideas and plans with the local organizer team (project managers, local volunteers, local entities, etc.). The idea was to divide taskes, responsabilities and roles in a way that all of them were actively involved on the activities. In this way, the cultural and professional exchange was successfully promoted. - The second part of the project was the implementation of 2 different human libraries events in 2 cities of Georgia. We were looking for volunteers with a strong motivation and who have experience in a topic near to human rights, social development, etc. The main objectives of the project were: 1. To fight stereotypes through having humans as a book; 2. To foster mutual understanding, tolerance and solidarity among local society; 3. To encourage local society to be more active and taking iniciatives; 4. To raise awareness about human rights, intercultural learning.
