The idea of the project "The youth of Europe against antisemtism" is to compare the evolution of knowledge about and attitudes towards the national socialist regime and its ideology (espcially regarding antisemitsm) in the three cities/regions the project participants come from: Nürnberg/Mittelfranken (Germany) Rīga (Latvia), Zamość/Lublin (Poland). For this purpose, each group of participants shall conduct a series of interviews with exemplary individuals of different age, family and social status, political and religious convictions, interest for the issue, and naturally, country of origin, to find answers to the following question:How have people's knowlege and attitudes towards the national socialist regime and its ideology evolved over time and in which way and to what extent have these been shaped by- their personal historyand- their thinking about, talking about, being told about, consuming media about, writing on, ...matters related to the issue.Among the interviewees will be holocaust survivors and other witnesses of the time.Edited versions of these interviews together with findings obtained from them and information on local history shall be published in form of- a book with a circulation of several thousand copies- a feature aired on local radio stations- a manual for a one-hour lesson on local history suitable for students aged 10 years or more.These materials shall appear in German, Polish and Latvian and shall be presented in appropriate venues, e.g. training events for history teachers.
