PROJECT
FINISHED
Formation
The project was formed on the basis of our effort to enlarge an offer of leisure education which is the main content of our activities. We consider non-formal education as a process of developing abilities and skills which lead to gaining key competences. We wanted provide opportunities to young people who are involved into the EVS project and add the element of international cooperation into our effect on clients.
Objectives
Our objective was the support of non-formal education of volunteers, our clients and employees of our organization and its enlargement into the European dimension. Besides we wanted to develop key competences in the field of foreign languagues, we wanted to get more information on other cultures and countries, to involve into the network of international contacts and to gain the sense of European citizenship and European identity. EVS has a good reputation in our organization and due to possibilities of young people to meet active participants of EVS, our clients found out the possibilities how to join this programme. A lot of local people were in touch with ex-volunteers on social networks and the knowledge and skills gained in this way of informal cooperation are used in their everyday life. The volunteers who leave us are more prepared for their roles in their future lives, they are more independent and they are able to make decisions more easily.

Methodology and implementation of the project
In the course of implementation of the project and participation of volunteers in activities organized by Mikado employees and also volunteers´own projects, gradual steps from the easiest to more complicated ones were used to fulfill the objectives of the project – learning and developing of the volunteer. The important thing was to engage volunteers in activities in a way which is natural in the learning process – at first as observers, later as assistants and at the end of the project as active organizers. A part of it was regular, systematic evaluation of activities and learning process. The plan was not static, changed it and edited it according to the needs both the volunteers and the organization. The agency agreement was formed among VO, HO and the volunteer and this agreement edited the role of particular parts of the project and in the fulfillment of the project objectives.

The result of our project was learning and improving knowledge and skills with a multicultural dimension, improving tolerance and understanding among the participants, employees connected with our organization and also a wide range of public. Further was is the enlargement of international cooperation of involved organizations. The project brought all participants good motivation for international mobilities and non-formal education.
