Across the EU as a whole 16% of those aged 16-64 are reported having a long-standinghealth problem or disability. The percentage of pupils with SENs (Special educationalneeds) in participating countries is Germany 5,3%, Italy 1,5%, Slovenia 4.7% and Spain3,7%. About 2% of all pupils in Europe are educated in special schools or specialclasses. Swimming is an excellent therapy for disadvantaged people. The most obviousimpact of disability is the limitation of one’s ability to engage in physical activity. To bringthe disabled persons into mainstream of life requires offering them all possibleopportunities, especially physical therapy, to improve their motor capacities.Exercising inside water permits them to move quite freely without tools. Swimming astherapy leads to benefits and aims for ABILITY IN WATER as opposed to DISABILITYON LAND, and it is good for all age groups. Although the use of it can improve physicaland mental health, it is not widely used. The main reason for such situation is thatswimming as therapy is not promoted strongly and because of a lack of trainers. Therehas to be one trainer for one disabled person. The aims of the project are: to increase use of swimming as therapy for disadvantagedpeople, to increase number of trainer of swimming for disabled people, to promoteswimming as therapy. We will use existing ICT solution for better education of targetgroups and promotion of swimming. To fulfill the aims of project and improvesignificantly the situation these objectives will be realized: development of swimmingtherapy portal with educational and promotional materials, good practice, e-Learningcourses, development of educational materials for target groups, organization ofworkshops and video conferences in participating countries, to promote swimmingtherapy using the potential of 3D Multi-User Virtual Environments, to motivate teachers, medical, social workers and associations
