The role of a men in gender equal Europe

Project "The role of a men in gender equal Europe/BeAMan" will last for 15 months involving 8 countries: Serbia, FYRO Macedonia, Kosovo (under resolution 1244), Albania, Portugal, Austria, Germany and Belgium. Aim of the project is to raise the awareness of youth, professional and general public in 8 involved and other European countries about the importance of the role of boys and young men in gender equality and gender based violence prevention in Europe. Raise the visibility of gender equality and gender based violence as important issues for European society, promote positive practices and mechanisms with positive impact on European level. Objectives:1. Build the capacities of 26 youth workers from 8 European countries to educate and actively contribute to gender equality and gender based violence prevention trough non formal education and peer exchange. 2. Build the capacities of 26 youth workers and artists from 8 different European countries in the field of using theatre as a tool in working with young people 3. Educate and empower 700 young people (100 per country) in 7 European countries to have attitudes and demonstrate behavior that contributes to gender equality and discourages gender based violence. 4. Create an international network of 26 youth workers, representatives of relevant organizations and institutions engaged in creation of gender equal and violence free Europe. To achieve set results under project will be organized one training for youth workers where they will gains skills and knowledge in working with young man and another training on how to use theatre as a tool in working under gender topic. Moreover participants in trainings will create local actions in order to practice learn knowledge and skills.Project will bring the new pool of trainers and resources, including the manual, that can be used in work with young men in Europe. It is important to mention that the manual will be translated into German, Portuguese, Macedonian, Serbian (including Croatian, Montenegrin and Bosnian) and Albanian that will give possibility of using in different communities on the world wide level. This will satisfy the need of organization that wants to be more involved in gender issue and give them possibility to contribute in preparing and executing the materials.This project will foster learning, cooperation and exchange among youth workers and relevant institutions/organizations in involved countries. The project will create a space for boys and young men in Europe, to explore their identity, attitudes and capacities for constructive contribution to a safer and more equal society. Trough non formal education, we will support young man to understand how gender stereotypes and practices can contribute to harmful behaviors that impact their lives and lives of others in multiple ways. Project will end with the joint conference where results will be presented and planed follow ups of the project.
