The idea to create an exchange like THE POWER OF MUSIC started during an Erasmus+ exchange (The Job Affair). We noticed that we were working with the same target groups, but we each have our own way to approach them and work with them. We thought that music and sports can be a good red line in our programme, because that are two of the most commun interests with our youngsters. Actually, in the eyes of the youngsters, the sports and music parts are the red line, but in fact are the real red lines more based on social skills and improving their self confidence. If we look at the kind of groups we work with, the NEET youngsters, different cultures, different backgrounds, lots of life experience, ... we realised that it can be difficult to create a group in only one exchange. That is why we choose for a two stage exchange. We want to give them the time to get used to each other, and really create a group. Besides creating a group, we hope to improve the social skills of our youngsters, to create more chances for them during the rest of their lives. We believe it can have an impact on many aspects in their lives. This we will do by using teambuilding activities, but also by the evaluation moments and steaming moments. We hope that by reflecting and learning to think about their own actions, they can implement some of the experences in their own lives. Our youngsters are very into their comfort zone, and don't really like to leave that. By 'forcing' some of them to get out of their zone, we hope that it makes them stronger, and maybe it can help them to get out of the vicious cirkle that some of them live in for many years.
