The ninth synphony... "BETOVEN" (BET OVer European Nationalities)
Start date: Mar 15, 2015, End date: Mar 14, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The ninth synphony... "BETOVEN" (BET OVer European Nationalities) is a youth exchange, involving 30 young people coming from six European Countries (Italiy, Austria, Portugal, Belarus, England and Romania). The project will last nine days. The activities will be in Contursi Terme (south of Italy), a small rural village, with strong traditions, especially in the music field. Even if these areas are rich of traditions and artistic talents, there is a considerable unamployment and emigration. The young people live in a disadvantaged condition: for a poor quality of education and also because they don't foresee a future according to their expectations. The initiative aims to offer to young people the awareness of own artistic talents and the faith in their use as tools of personal and professional growth. The art can represent on one hand the solution for the crisis on the other (especially the music) un informal and diagonal instrument of cultural dialogue. The awareness of own talent, the languages and ICT knowledge, offer the freedom to address the life where we want. In all this, the European citizenship allows: the opportunity to face other cultures; the way to overcome the local barriers (especially in rural areas); a common project to share; rights and opportunities. The activities are focused on informal learning, active participation and practical learning. We foresee: ice-breaking; workshops; outings; meetings with local institutions and organizations; motivational activities; follow up and final exhibition (The Ninth Synphony). The participants can improve such knowledge (languages, arts, relational and social skills), as well as the awareness of European dimension as a way to overcome local barriers. The local community will live directly the European citizenship, in touch with many and different cultures. We must consider that many local people have never traveled and this would be the chance to face other cultures. A long term and multiplier effect will be guaranteed by diffution of results (where will be illustrated the iniciative and achieved results, with descriptive references, also with videos and films, and normatives). In occasion of final exhibition, the project and main activities will be illustrated. At the end of project we foresee a open meeting with local community in order to show the project and answer questions. Also will be illustrated how the iniciative was born and references for information and possible appliactions for Erasmus Plus Program. The small size of community and all connections of POLIMNIA will make easier the collaborations with local organizations and institutions in order to create new and future iniciatives. We expect the strengthening of local cooperation in the framework of european and youth politics, the stimulation for many young people to travel and know other cultures, encouragement of institutions and organizations to arrange future European projects.
