THE FOOD WASTE PROJECT

"The food waste project", is a youth exchange which will involves 36 young people from six European countries for ten days, 15-25 September 2014 ,in Thasos island Greece. The project wants to aware the young participants and the local community about the food wasted in the countries of the developing world and makes them capable multipliers for the campaign, against food waste in their countries. Working in multicultural groups and through non formal education methods the participants will exchange their knowledge and experiences and will have the chance to learn from each other.The food waste project is based on the active participation of the young people and their creativity. It aims on the information and awareness of the people about the food wasting, it proposes ideas/solutions for managing and saving food and promotes healthy leaving and a sustainable diet. In order to achieve our purposes we will use information, new technologies and arts. During the project, the young participants will identify the situation of food wasting in the local community, they will create photos based on food we daily waste, they will make a short film about it, they will propose a sustainable diet and show us creative and simple ways of managing the remaining food. In the end they will write and design the guide 10+1 steps for saving food. The result of the idea will be the organizing of a two information days against food wasting in different places of the island. We will also organize an APV meeting from 7-10 July so we will have the chance of a better preparation of the groups and give the leaders the opportunity to visit the accommodation, food and workshops areas.
