THE FAIRYTALE OF THE EUROPEAN G(OLD)EN FUTURE
End date: Oct 1, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
The project “The Fairytale of the European Golden Future” promoted, educated and cultivated the European concept of “lifelong healthy active ageing“ among youngsters by developing in unitary educational contexts those abilities necessary for assuming a healthy lifestyle, an active citizenship and membership of an integrative European community for all ages. The project was structured on stages of personal and socio-civic development so that students, teachers and old people involve in actions of intergenerational cooperation based on promoting lifelong learning and recognition of value at any age.Educational activities dedicated to adolescence, youth, maturity and old age were reunited in an imaginary diary that had as a narrator our teenager, teleported to year 2072, where he would meet himself as an old man. The “grey-hair” alter-ego would help him to develop those abilities, skills, behaviors needed for an active and independent adaptation, regardless the age.The project laid the bases of European intergenerational dialogue, essential both for developing competences and attitudes necessary for a long youth and for valorizing knowledge of the two age category, the young-the old, by participating in common round tables, sharing experiences and learning. The final products, the online book “Memories from the Future” and optional course “BE the Golden Generation”, formed a valuable library of educational resources and good practices regarding the solving of European issues related to active ageing.
