PROJECT
FINISHED
‘’Cultural Europe’’ did not wait the institutional construction of the European Union to be achieved. Yet, today, the building up of this economic and social Europe raises the question of the future of each country’s culture. That is the reason why the goal of this project is to lead the pupils from the 5 participating countries (France, Slovenia, Latvia, Estonia and Turkey) to think about the possible existence of a cultural federalism or about the risk of imposing a dominant cultural model to all the member states of the European Union. The differences in terms of size, economic power and culture make this issue all the more fascinating.
In this project, the 5 partner countries will involve 16-18 year old students who live in a constantly changing society and in which the cultural opening and mobility within the framework of studies and professional life has become a major factor for success. These young people are tomorrow’s European citizens. It is up to them to build a modern Europe, respectful of identities and in which they will feel confident and mobile.
This 3-year project will follow 3 axis: ”From the first look to knowledge “, “From knowledge to interculturality” and finally “ from interculturality to Community”.
After staging the stereotyped and fantasy image of the other cultures during the first year, the students will be led, during the second year, to materialize the “interculturality” through the making of a collection of “worldly” recipes, in the atmosphere of the famous film “a Spanish Inn”, revisited. Finally, during the third year, the community dimension will result from the creation of a Charter promoting Europe as a free culture space. All the students’ works, among which a European anthem created within the 3 years by the 5 partner schools, will be given to a Member of the European Parliament during a meeting of student ambassadors at the European Parliament.
All the activities, jointly conducted, will be the subject of discussions in English on the e-twinning platform as well as meetings between the adults in charge so as to take stock of the progress of the project.
Thus, the students involved in the project will have the opportunity to develop their skills in terms of knowledge ( of the other countries and their cultures, of another language ...) as well as know-how (surveys, use of Information and Communication Technologies, shooting of a film, debates... ) and being (respect of the Other, self-sufficiency, confidence ...).
Lastly, through this project based on exchanges and opening, School will transmit in a changing population’s mind a more dynamic and modern image in agreement with the expectations of the society in which it must find its place.
