ECSA World was established as the main world association for European studies. In its around 25 years of existence it grew up till nowadays situation in which it includes more than 60 national and regional associations dealing with European studies all around the world. The fact that the Presidency changes every 2 years and that there is since many years no fix Secretariat with the Archives of ECSA has caused that the history of ECSA is neither well documented nor researched. Taking this into account it seems the time has come for starting collecting the testimonies of the different persons who have been decisive for the establishment and the development of ECSA. In this first part of the project there are two main goals:a) to conduct in depth interviews and collect the testimonies of the main initiators for ECSA World and those who in the following years were also responsible for main steps in the history of ECSA. b) to collect for the ECSA Archives some relevant documents; probably the interviewed personalities will be able to provide copies of founding documents. On that way the oral history can be complemented with documents.
